Daniel Chin
Danny Chin is the Chief of Legal Production and Managing Attorney for EOIR, where he oversees immigration court litigation and leads the firm’s removal defense practice. He represents noncitizens in complex humanitarian and removal defense matters, with a focus on asylum, withholding of removal, protection under the Convention Against Torture, and federal habeas corpus litigation challenging unlawful immigration detention.
Before entering private practice, Danny served in several senior roles within the federal government. Most recently, he worked as in-house counsel with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services – Refugee and Asylum Law Division, where he litigated immigration matters in federal court and advised on detention authority, removal proceedings, and eligibility for humanitarian protection. Prior to that, he served as an Appeals Officer with USCIS’s Administrative Appeals Office and earlier as an Asylum Officer adjudicating complex and sensitive asylum claims.
In 2025, Danny served as Immigration Counsel on detail to the United States Senate Judiciary Committee and the Office of Senator Alex Padilla, where he advised on immigration policy, agency oversight, and legislative responses to enforcement and humanitarian protection issues.
This government experience gives Danny a rare, insider understanding of how asylum, detention, and removal decisions are evaluated and defended by the government. In private practice, he has represented clients before Immigration Courts nationwide, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and multiple United States Courts of Appeals, and regularly handles cases and emergency filings where clients’ liberty and safety are at stake.
Danny earned his Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School, where he focused on international human rights and immigration law. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts from New York University, where he studied contemporary philosophy and the history of the developing world and played varsity baseball.
Danny recently moved to Indianapolis with his wife, Kirian Chin, who serves as a training coordinator and legal writing supervisor at the firm. Outside of work, they enjoy spending time with their dogs, Mila, a Rottweiler, and Luka, a mini-poodle mix.
